Everything but the kitchen sink....

Planning what to bring on a trip like this is tough because you can only bring so much, but there is alot of stuff that will be nice to have along the way. We found it quite useful when planning our gear to read the blogs of others who have done similar trips, but I am not sure I have the gusto to describe in great detail all of the gear we brought (I think blogging may be an acquired tast that I do not have yet) but here is a quick run down of what we did bring. Later in the trip once we have more of an idea of the goods and bads of our choices I will come back and make notes.

Below is a photo of both of our bikes. We are both on steel frame mountain bikes made by Jamis that we found cheap as they were a few years old. We also made some other changes that were not stock such as new handlebars, a rigid fork, brooks leather saddle and full fenders. We had 36 spoke down hill wheels hand built that are tough as hell, we are using Old Man Mountain racks which are amazing so far and a full set of Orlieb bags which are also great but cost a fortune so they better be.
